    The story of the Gate Glove® goes back to the mid 1990's when I spent a lot of time pulling trailers.  I found the tailgate on my truck constantly being damaged by flying rocks and stones. I wondered how I could keep my tailgate looking first-class. I decided someone needed to make a protective cover, but it would have to fit perfectly so that it would not flap in the wind while driving, nor slide around to damage the paint on the tailgate.  I thought about this idea and worked on it over the years attempting now and then to contact a patent lawyer.  I was busy and was never really serious about it until the summer of 2006.  I came across another patent company and decided to give them a try.  Getting a good response from them refuelled my energy and I went ahead, patenting the idea both in USA and CANADA.

    The next step was to make a prototype. I picked up some fabric and enlisted the help of my wife and her sewing machine. We got started - cutting, fitting, sewing and riding in the box of the pickup, holding my creation together with thread and pins to ensure the wind would not whip it around and blow it off.  I wanted this tailgate protector to be snug while wrapping around to protect the entire tailgate. It needed to fit like a glove. Thus the Gate Glove® was born.

    With the prototype made and our patent pending we sent the Gate Glove® to different manufacturers, hoping they would make a perfect, snug fitting  product with all the quality and good looks a discerning customer would demand, something you would be proud to use on your new truck. After several unsuccessful attempts, a company called Precision Crafting went over the top in meeting every need and expectation I could've had for my new product.
